What will the lessons be like for your student?
Every person is unique, with their own set of abilities, interests, and goals. Each student gets personal attention with this in mind. We strive to make learning low pressure and as fun as possible, and each student gets to participate in decision making as we go along.
The Young
We can start as early as age 4, with the help of parents, who should attend lessons and help at home. At this stage, we use a combination of Suzuki call and response learning with introduction of appropriate reading skills, adjusted to the maturity and attention span of the child.
The Casual Student
For those old enough to be self aware and self motivated, we combine basic method books, which teach the system of music reading and performance, with special projects the students choose. Fun songs can include anything from video game themes, popular artist songs, movie themes, or even the ever popular Fur Elise.
The Serious, Competitive Student
If a student has chosen this route, then we work to specific goals to ensure success in auditions or competitions. We assess the skills the student must demonstrate and work specifically to develop them and the confidence to perform them under pressure.
The Adult
Adults are people too, and come with all the different qualities of the youth, so we welcome them and applaud their determination to learn new things while still handling life’s other demands.
